 poet: David Tucker

piece of a poem from new book "Late for Work"

When I read it I thought...it would be so nice to do that for a while: Makes me want to lie in a hammock for an afternoon...

Let us hear as long as we can
the kichen faucet that drips all day with its one
inscrutable syllable, and let us have joyous screen doors
with a rip in the corner like this, an amusement ride
the flies dive through, while the moon glowers down
and the stacks of things not done grow beautifully
deep.

 Nice Weekend Madness

Saturday was great in NYC..the weather was nice, my friend Rosina and her son Luca were great tour guides! We walked through
Central Park around all the skaters, and bikers, and runners, and dog walkers, we stopped at a playground, we went to the NBA store which the kids loved, we went to China Town...we walked and hopped on the bus and rode the subway up and down. We drove through the tunnell and the kids snoozed on the way home. It was a tiring day to drive up and back and shop and eat and walk and my sister even saw a show but it was great because it felt accessible and not too far away. I like feeling not too far away. I'm looking at my calendar to try to squeeze in another day soon..maybe my husband and I will go for a day or two and just walk and eat and talk and watch all the people. I promised Luca a longer visit with Antonio another time. I hope I can arrange it for them.

Today the weather was just georgous...big blue sunny skies with a cool breeze. I rode around with the top down in my car. I took son #2 shopping and did some food shopping to ready for the week. I can't believe tomorrow is Monday and it is going to get chilly again! I had to remove that Down comforter off my bed...down and hot flashes do not go together at all! ....tomorrow I am calling the doctor for ESTROGEN!

Interview quote

All I would say is, don't become a writer unless you are convinced that writing is the best way of describing and rendering the truth about the world; if you think there's a better way, try that instead.

That is exactly what I believe. Motherhood is the only other way for me.
