 Baby's surgery update

The surgery that was supposed to take 6 hours only took 1 1/2 hours. The tumor was waiting to be scooped out and the surgeon did so without incident. This was very good news for him. He still has some treatments and additional surgery to go through since he has more than one tumor but they are hopeful.

Also, their son, who hasn't spoke to them in a long, long while came to take his sister to the hospital.

There is always a reason for suffering.

Prayers always work in one way or another.

 Harper Lee

I found this passage from an essay Harper Lee wrote before she wrote "To Kill a Mockingbird".
It resonates as True to me:

Love purifies. Suffering never purified anybody; suffering merely intensifies the self-directed drives within us. Any act of love, however--no matter how small--lessens anxiety's grip, gives us a taste of tomorrow, and eases the yoke of our fears. Love, unlike virtue, is not its own reward. The reward of love is peace of mind, and peace of mind is the end of man's desiring.

Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird" was her only published book.
It is one of my favorite books of all time.
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis named their daughter Scout after the character in this book. If you read it, you'll know why. You fall in love with her immediately.

Harper Lee was educated as an attorney. She never practiced law.

 movie: Mrs. Henderson Presents

Judi Dench
I said it before and will say it again: I will see any movie this actress is in...she is nothing less than brilliant every single time.

Wonderful movie about the theater and life and how we all have reasons why we do the things we do, how we all are changed by our experiences and how we all affect the people around us whether we are trying to or not.

Great movie about the endurance of war, acceptance, and the power of a positive mental outlook. Creativity and less caution and less controlling behaviors can help us endure and enjoy all that is not perfect. ..that this world that is not at all perfect is really O.K.
Maintaining aristocratic mentalities restricts flexibility, enjoyment, and joy.

 Movie: Capote

Brilliant

Eccentric, Manipulative and Sensitive: three traits needed for a really good story. Capote had them all.

The movie portrays a writer's obsession and a story's omnipotence over a writer. The costumes, settings, and the actor's portrayal were phenomenal.
I love biographies..especially about writers or artists. The movie showed the similarities between human beings, insights into individual situations as to what life gives us and what it takes away and how we have very little control over that..our reactions are what really forms our lives.
