If for a moment we make way with our petty selves, wish no ill to anyone, apprehend no ill, cease to be but as a crystal which reflects a ray--what shall we not reflect? What a universe will appear crystallized and radiant around us.

Better than the book and the book was excellent.
If you have any interest in life and how it relates to the past, How out past shapes our present lives, how we relate to other people, how small the world is, to Jewish people and their suffering, to our connection to things or seeing certain parts of life through a magnifying lens....see this movie. I loved it.
I remember reading the book about 2 years ago and loving it. This movie really "illuminated" the book. (couldn't resist that one)
Also watched "Bee Season" Powerful forces of beliefs...very good movie. I love Juliete Binoch and Richard Gere.

clean and cut calamari into rings. (I buy frozen, cleaned calamari and rinse it and pull out any slimy or plasticy stuff/much easier and cleaner than fresh but fresh is always more tender but for this dish is ok to use frozen) saute garlic and olive oil until soft, add calamari rings and tentacles, toss and coat with hot garlic and oil. add some water and a can of crushed tomatoes and cubed, cleaned potatoes (about 3-4) add about one cup of wine (any kind) salt and pepper and herbs de provence cook about 1 hour on low to medium heat (Le Cruset pots are best here) (I know I spelled that wrong) add 1 bag of frozen peas, cook another 20 minutes. drizzle with extra virgin olive oil (crushed pepper is optional) eat with salad, crusty bread and wine. enjoy!
